Day 01 : Chennai
Begain your tour
Arrive into Chennai
Welcome to Vardhman's 'South India Tour' ! On arrival in Chennai, you will be met and transferred by Vardhman's representative to your hotel.
Later after a while proceed on a city tour of Chennai
Visit the Museum to see the Art and Bronze Gallery. Drive through the Flower and Fruit market, High court, Fort museum, Marina Beach, Santhome Cathedral and snake park.

Day 02 : Chennai - Kanchipuram - Mahabalipuram
This morning after breakfast at the hotel, proceed to Kanchipuram. It is the ancient capital of the Pallavas famous as a city of 1000 Temples and still has 124 shrines. The first temple dedicated to Shiva was built in the 7th and 8th century and has painting on the walls. Temples of Ekambaswara, Kailasanatha, Sri Kamakshi and Varadarajaswamy are of interest. Kanchipuram is also famous for its silks.
On to Mahabalipuram
The city of Mahabalipuram is famous for the seven pagodas. Here on the seashore is an interesting group of ancient rock hewn temples which are the examples of Dravidian style of Architecture.

Day 03 Mahabalipuram - Pondicherry - Gangaikondacholapuram - Swamimalai
This morning after breakfast, drive to Pondicherry and transfer to hotel.
City tour of Pondicherry
Places of interest are Sri Aurobindo Ashram Auroville - the brain child of the mother and designed by French Architect roger Anger, AuroVille was meant to be an experiment in international living where man and women could live in peace and progress harmony with each other above all creeds.

Day 04 Swamimalai - Tanjore
In the morning visit Darasuram Temple and the Institute of Iconography.
Later drive to Tanjore.
Afternoon, visit the 9th century Chola Temple of Brihadeeswara at Tanjore.
This temple, dating back to more than a thousand years, was built during the reign of the Chola king, Parantaka II, also known as Sundara Chola (956-973 A.D.), father of Rajaraja Chola I, who constructed the famous Brihadeeswara temple in Thanjavur. This temple was probably rebuilt of stone during the reign of Kulottunga Chola I.

Day 05 Tanjore - Trichy - Madurai
This morning drive to Madurai
Enroute visit Trichy.
Evening watch religious ceremonies at Meenakshi Temple, Madurai

Day 06 Madurai - Periyar
This morning you drive to Periyar and on arrival transfer to hotel.
Periyar-an ariticial lake or reservoir created by a dam on Periyar River is in the heart of the Wildlife sanctuary. Wild Elephants, Asiatic Deer, Black Buck and even tigers come to shores of the lake to drink. Return to hotel for breakfast. Thereafter drive through the winding "Ghats" kind with prosperous tea plantations & then arrive the fascinating countryside of low-lying palms and paddy field to Kumarakom. Kumarakom is a beautiful backwater willage on the shores of the enchanting Vembanad Lake, crises crossed with meandering waterways and ancient cottages.

Day 07 Periyar - Kumarakom - Alleppey
Early morning Boat Cruise on Lake Periyar to view Wildlife activities. Later, drive to Kumarakom and board the House Boat or Kettuvalom. Stay in the House Boat and cruise the Backwaters in and around Alleppey.
Overnight: Houseboat

Day 08 Alleppey - Cochin
Explore rural life in the Backwaters.
Later, disembark at Alleppey and drive to Cochin
Evening watch a Kathakali dance performance.
Overnight: Hotel

Day 09 Cochin
This morning proceed on a city sightseeing tour.
City tour of Cochin
Visit the Dutch palace, Jewish Synagogue, chinese fishing nets, St. Francis Church and the Santa Cruz Church. Also visit the Hill Palace Museum which displays articles of archeological importance..
In time transfer to airport airport for your onward journey.
Evening walk in the fort Cochin area.

Day 10 Cochin - Ooty
After breakfast drive to Ooty and transfer to hotel.
Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 11 Ooty - Mysore
This morning drive to Mysore and transfer to hotel.
Visit Vrindavan Garden Like Mughal Pattern, Vrindavan Garden is built step by step below the dam. Fountain, Flower beds, topiary-all have made the environment beautiful and romantic. In the evening the garden is illuminated and it looks more beautiful and also the fountains of the garden are operated rhythymically with music.

Day 12 Mysore - Hassan
This morning after breakfast drive to Hassan.
Enroute visit Srirangapatnam-Tipu Sultan's 18th century summer palace.

Day 13 Hassan - Belur - Halebid - Bangalore
Morning excursion to the 11th century temples of Belur and Halebid.
Later depart for Bangalore.
Enroute visit Shravanbelgola
The name conjures up images of great monolithic statue of Gomateshwara or Lord Bahubali. The colossal statue, carved from granite is the worlds tallest images creation of art which is 58.6 feet in high. Chavundandaraya, the Ganga general is said to have taken the enormous task in establishing the statue on the to[ of Vindhyagiri hills. The statue established around 1000 years back is a symbol of peace, tolerance and nonvoilsence. The statue is clearly visible from a distance of 15 km. One has to climb hundreds of steps chiseled out in the rock to reach the statue. There are two hillocks in Shravanabelagola- Vindhyagiri or Doddabetta and Chandragiri or Chikkabetta. Vindhyagiri is the larger of the two where the statue is located, over looks Chandragiri, where large number of basadies including Chavuvdaraya basadi, Chandragupta basadi, Parshwanatha basadi, Bhadrabahu cave, Mahanavami mantapa etc are situated.

Day 14 Bangalore - Chennai
Morning is free for shopping.
Afternoon transfer to aiport/Railway station to board the flight/Train for your onward journey to back home with sweet and unforgettable memories of 'South India Tour ' escorted by Vardhman Vacations.
